We had 95 degrees yesterday. The whole family went fishing. Our son likes waterskiing. Maxed out on black sea bass and got one summer flounder. Today is predicted to be about the same hot, humid day. At 7 AM it is 80 degree already. I have to pick tomatoes before they burn completely.

Yes, very hot today! And get this! After all of this discussion about KB vs. KBX and my observations about the fruit set and production, the plants aren't even KB plants!! I picked the first blushing fruit and I though it looked a little orange and early to blush. Now that it's completely ripe it looks like some standard red tomato!!! The other plant will probably yield the same result of wrong seed so that makes a total of 3 plants (1 mislabeled german red strawberry as well) in my garden from my local farmer that are mislabeled. Frustrating!

All of your 'maters are looking wonderful!

This heat is really taking it out of me (and my plants)

Sounds like you have the right idea hitting the water! My husband and I love to go fishing too!

Thank you, thank you...all

BigVanVader, Claude Brown’s Y. Giant last year was good. It is not too sweet or acidic tomato, neither it is bland. Did not taste it this year. Giving it a chance to ripen a bit more. Last year I had two growing in one cluster that weight a total 4 pounds.

Spartanburg123, I cannot wait to grow that one again.

Ella, you are amazing! What a tomato haul! It looks like you leave your fruits on your plants until they are ready to be picked? Instead of picking at first blush?
My yield is probably 1/10th of yours! How many tomato plants do you have?

Very nice of you to keep weight records, I had planned on it this year but my old scale stopped working and I just recently replaced it. For me this year Wes has to be the leader. These plants are tomato machines and most are over 1 pound. Have you grown Wes Ella? If so what were your thoughts? My mom says it has replaced Rutgers as her favorite tomato and I like that it can be used as a slicer or a paste type.

I do leave them to ripen most of the time. I only pick earlier if it suppose to rain heavily or they get too much sun exposer due to leaves being removed because of the diseases.

Tomato bed #2 was initially cold greenhouse that we opened after about a month. I planted tomatoes in there on April 6. I have 12 plants in it: NOT Carbon, NOT Cherokee Chocolate, Biyskaya Roza, Grandfather Ashlock, Peg’s Round Orange, Vorlon, Bear Creek, Black Cherry, Carbon Copy, Girl Girl's Weird Thing, Fred Limbaugh, and vertical graft Black Master/Black Cherry.

Beds #1 (12 plants), #3 (8 plants), #4(8 plants) were planted on May 2nd.
Beds #5 and #6 were planted sporadically one/two at a time as they were big enough. Some are starting to set.

I have a total of 51 varieties planted plus one that keeps on volunteering in my flower bed (Blondkopfchen). Most of the varieties represented by a single plant.
