Way to go Worth!!! Can't stand sticky traps...So indiscriminate and a miserable way to die. I've seen birds caught in them and even a kitten. I used to be an exterminator back in the early 90s and refused to use them after seeing animals struggling for their lives. Kill um quick or not at all.

They are cruel. I accidentally bought a cheaper brand for my whiefly traps, and it trapped a bird, which flailed around trying to get loose, and several wing feathers were pulled out. I now stick with the Seabright Labs brand that works fantastically for whiteflies and leaf miner flies, but doesnt have strong enough glue to trap animals or lizards.
That bird got rescued by me, sans several wing feathers, and ran off because it couldn't fly. One of the worst days in my life. Felt horrible for days.

Sometimes I get an idea and start working on it and then forget why I was doing it.
This is a perfect example of this lunacy.
Finding a convenient place to mount my dial indicator was driving me nuts.
So by shear accident I managed to make what I needed to solve the problem.
I took the measurements some time ago and just went on auto pilot making something I had no idea what it was for.
Then late last night I saw the hole looked at my bar and said this bar will fit in that hole so I can mount my dial indicator on something besides that pesky magnetic base.
The knurles are so I can grip the bar and tighten the nut with a wrench.
The top shoulder has a slight taper in it so the bar won't loosen and stay centered.
The bar was made out of a rusty piece of scrap I picked up off a job site about 15 years ago.

Here is yet another contraption I have been wanting to experiment with.
Explanation coming soon.

Just a prototype more or less of a repeatable saw fence stop.
The completed one will have a half nut that will open and close around the threaded pipe so I can move it up and down and lots more bracing and so on.
This is the explanation of how it works.
The shaft is 16 threads per inch.
One rotation of the shaft will move the saw fence 1/16th of and inch, 1/2 rotation will move it 1/32th of and inch and so on.
So when I need to move the saw fence back and forth I know I will be exactly back to where I came from or when I have to move something a wee bit I will know exactly how much I moved it.
The finished product will be made from 3/4 inch black iron pipe and will look nothing like the pictures.

Even with this simple setup I was able to creep up on 2- 25/32ths from 2- 13/16ths stopping off at 51/64ths along the way and never looking at the scale on the saw fence.
Just rotating 1/4 of a turn at a time.

It was made out of some 3/4 rigid conduit I had laying around.
Now I need to find something to make the half nut out of.

Now lets just say I wanted to mass produce the thing that I am making.
I would have different companies make different parts none of them knowing what on earth they were for.
Just like they did during WWll when they were developing the A bomb.
They would hire people to do stuff they had no idea what it was for.
Here look at this gauge and turn this knob to keep it between these two numbers.
Make this flange and so on.
I thought about cutting the thread in ACME form but that would mean I would have to grind two cutting tools one for inside and one for outside.
I decided against it and not worth the trouble.
