The Wonderful World of Fungi
Without fungi to break down tough cellulose from trees life as we know it may not have existed, or at least would have been delayed or could have even been completely different never leading to the diversity our planet harbors.
Use this thread to post anything fungus related you can find, or any home and/or garden mushroom growing projects you have going. here are some of the more interesting things i've seen lately: a fungus that produces diesel fuel directly from cellulose: http://phys.org/news144958975.html this one eats plastic: http://digitaljournal.com/article/320986 the loveable oyster mushroom can eat crude oil in saltwater, and can also break down old motor oil: http://www.fungi.com/blog/items/the-...m-problem.html |
