It's just concrete reinforcing wire painted red. Painted to slow rust degeneration and also because I don't like the rust look. I've been using these cages 10+ years now.

Very nice and pretties up what could be just blah area, too. Ever think of moving the tomatoes back a smidge and using those concrete planters in front of them with some marigolds or other flowers?

The red of the cages makes it "pop"!
