Default Hummingbirds - Mother and Babies

Here's my "Mother Hummer" and her babies:

Sitting on the nest

The first baby

Feeding the little babies

Sitting on the babies now

Feeding them - amazing how far down her bill goes

They barely fit in the nest - and glare at me when I take their pic

Practicing...

Ready to launch...

And gone

Cool that you had a hummer nest that you could watch like that!

I was so lucky. I got a lot of video of all of this also, including the little guy actually leaving the nest.

She made her nest on a clothesline, under the roof of my porch. So she was abuot 4 feet from my door! My poor husband was ruled by the bird, haha, he wasn't allowed out the door except when the bird was away from the nest.

It was a really amazing experience.

That is too cool. Growing up in southern California you didn't think much of the hummers as they were always there. Here in Germany the closest thing is the hummingbird moth. First time I saw one I thought it was a hummer. When they are flying it's hard to tell the difference. Ami
