Default Kale (Curly Kale)

This is listed as Kale, probably curly kale.

I grow two types of kale. Apparently this is a most nutritious green. It must mature in the cool Spring weather or in the Fall. Last year a Fall crop was utilized. Four plants were purchased, and will be set in separate pots and grown indoors for about ten days to establish strong roots, then planted in the outdoor garden. This establishes strong, vigorous plants.

I was thinking about starting some kale, but I keep flip-flopping between that and just getting a reputable mesclun mix.

Kale is used as a border ornamental around here, very attractive plants.

How does kale compare to, say, amaranth?
