My next door neighbor has an older Mantis that I used a few days ago. I liked it so much that I have ordered me one. They look like they will do great for small stuff around the yard such as flower beds and small raised beds. The big garden I will use my old tractor and the mules.

I just got my second Mantis. The original one was 12 years old, but needed repairs, and the new ones were on sale, so,,,,,,,,,,. Ripped up half of my 60 x 30 garden this afternoon and loving it.

179.00 on sale at lowes
I need to take a look at this! I just need something to stir up my large, raised beds when I amend them. I'm tired of emptying them out into a wheelbarrow, mixing and putting all the soil back. They are 16x 8 each, 4 beds and that is way too much work.

Anybody know how many amps the Mantis has? The $369, 12 volt, 9 inch version?

Hi!

I just bought a Honda FG110 mini tiller from Home Depot.
I read a ton of good reviews on this machine so I bought it.
It's incredible. The power delivered to the tines is way more than you would expect for a tiller this size.

Nice 4 cycle engine and a fantastic manufactures warranty.

It was around 350.00.

I cannot say anything bad about it so far.

Heading to Lowes today. I get 10% off at Lowes and HD for retired military. Can't wait to try stirring in some manure before planting squash, cukes and melons!
I'm getting the little, electric version.

I bought the tiller from Costco.com in Dec. And I love it. I forget the brand name right now, something Joe I think. It is electric, and works great for me.

Hi grannygreen, here is a list for gas stations that carry ethanol free gas. I write a newsletter for our car club and did an article on this very thing a few months back. There are stations in many states listed here.

Great list. Thx. I replaced two engines this year. It is ethanol free gas for me from now until it is no longer available.

So, Lowes didn't have the electric tillers, only some off brand. $199 for a gas powered 2 cycle and 2 of the 4 had obviously been used and returned.
HD had a Black and Decker model, 6.5 amps for $199 that I almost bought.
It's between that and the 9 amp Sun Joe from Amazon for the same price. Any comments before I pull the trigger and order the sun joe? It's free shipping and no tax so ends up about the same as my 10% discount at HD+ tax on the B&D.

Tracy

I bought my Troybilt electric tiller from lowes in January. It is listed on lowes website. I would try a different lowes if you have one available. The Troybilt is really an excellent machine IMO.

Tracy, I don't know about the Sun Joe or electric tillers at all for that matter. However, I wanted to take a second to send you Kudos for resisting the urge to take that BD home. That thing is 2/3 the price of a Mantis and not a tenth of the tool!

You and your garden deserve better,,,
