Default scale insects electric feeding

My wife noticed these on the charger cord for my cell phone. The cord is about 20 feet from any door and not near the garden. Sorry for the photo, macro mode doesn't seem to work.

Scale seems to be very adaptable. I once had them residing on my wall. It makes you wonder just how these creatures have adapted to feeding/surviving on synthetic materials...

eew . I can see why they would like the shape of the wire... it is very plant stem like...but still...that really grosses me out. 20 feet would put you in my kitchen.
