Default DIY Trays

Last year. I started onions by seeds in flimsy plastic seed trays without the cells in them. It worked fine - except when I wanted to move them. Even gently cradling the tray, it would cause the potting mix to crack/earthquake.

So this year I made these carrying trays so I can move them to the sun or shade if needed without disturbing the potting mix.

Materials: Screws, One 1x12, Two 1x2s, and Two 1x4s. The 1x4s in the pictures are actual one inch by four inch boards. I'm sure the 1x4s bought at Home Depot would be tall enough. Once put together, caulk and paint them.

If anyone is interested, I can add detailed instructions on building them.

Very pretty, Salt, a creative solution.

I use some old cafeteria type trays Rob got some where, they are rigid and have a slight lip. Your's look much nicer!

Looks like you made grab handles there. Did you use a jig saw? They look great for carrying. Want to see what I bought for transporting outside and in? It really is adorable and larger than it looks. I got it in the green.

Thank you

Schill93, I like that. I also like how it folds up for easy storage.

I did use a jigsaw for the handles and filed the edges smooth with a hand file. I could have used our bandsaw, but the jigsaw was already there on the table I was working on.

Yes, I can see that you did. Must have taken some time to do along with the painting.
Or, are you just that good.

Yes, I love the cart because it can fold up with no effort and be stored easily. (and I like the color)

The trays look great. They would make a very attractive display for a market vendor.

They look nice.
You and I are never going to use up that barn red paint.

Worth, if I had to paint anything other than Barn Red or White - I'd probably have to relearn how to paint. I'm starting to think they don't make any other colors.
