Default Some of My Best Friends are Llamas

This is Mike and Ike, my neighbors. Whenever I'm out in the vegetable garden, they come trotting over like a couple of puppy dogs. We've known each other for twelve years and we are good buddies. They like Sally and I so much because we spoil them with tomatoes, grape vines and whatever else comes from the gardens. This morning, Mike ate most of the bag of over-ripe tomatoes I brought out to the compost bin. Maybe twenty good size tomatoes in all. He can eat a barrel full if I let him.

If they are wild I would hate to see a tame one.

Nope, not wild, quite the opposite actually. Their mouths are really soft and they are careful not to bite me. This time of year when I yank out an expired tomato plant or two about every other day, they get especially excited because I hold the entire plant over the fence complete with green tomatoes and they get to yank the leaves and fruit from the stalk. I tried to give them some overgrown crooknecks but they spit it back out, oh well, that's what the compost bin is for.

Be careful! Tomato leaves are poisonous for many mammals.

With summer squash that has gone past the stage where it's good for summer squash, I cut it open, scoop the seeds out of it, peel it and use it in soup.
