Default Stake 'Em?

Should I put a stake in the pots of Anaheim, NuMex Big Jim, Fatali, Safi and so on?

My peppers are starting to grow.

Thanks.

Grub, in training, eating lots of pickled hot peppers for snacks and munching on raw baby habs from the bush.

It's kind of addictive, the burn.

I use a short support for all my peppers. If there's a lot of fruit on the plant and you get high winds, the branches can snap off.

Grub,

I plant two peppers of the same variety in the same hole and the two plants hold each other up and there is increased pollination. I didn't have to stake and I had plants loaded with peppers.

Each pepper plant acts as the stake for the other plant.

LoreD,

I am growing all my peppers in pots, so perhaps they won't be too unruly.

However, I did grow a C.Chinence last year that grew like a vine and right over the chicken run, which provided support.

I have since put 3ft stakes in all the peppers in pots.

I'm just going a little mad pacing around waiting for action

I used thin bamboo sticks for my hots Grub ...
Worked great ...
For the misses potted sweet bells, I used a thicker grade:

Hi LoreD,

I was thinking about trying the method you mentioned, planting two plants together. I was going to try it as a space saving thing, not so much as a support system. Do you space them as you normally would with single plants or place them further apart? Thanks.

Hi ShelleyBean,

I did normal spacing between the groups. I planted about 12 in. between each group of two plants. It worked very well.

Oh, good! Then that's what I'm going to do. Thanks!
