The DAP X-Hose is the blue colored equivalent of the Pocket Hose.

Apparently someone upon high heard the masses complaining about the plastic fittings just like the one's on the Pocket Hose breaking almost immediately upon use because X-Hose now has metal connectors instead of plastic.

It's now Pocket Hose's turn to replace the cheap connectors.

Looks like a nice hose, thanks for the post.

This is a forest fire cleanup hose and has been posted here before.
Several companies sell them and they are top of the line.
Folks I am in fire protection and see this stuff all of the time.

They are pricey but you pay for what you get.
Cheap begats cheap.

A friend of mine is using one of those collapsible hoses in his back yard and it is also suffering from leaking issues at the connectors. Silly how this company skimped on a vital part of the hose.

It doesn't seem like any of those designs are working out well. If you go to Amazon and look up "DAP X-Hose", you'll find the 25 footer is averaging just 2 stars with 41 reviews.

The best portable hose I ever had was the Toro Hose/Reel set. It was targeted to marine customers, who would use it to hose down boat decks and then roll it up into a compact reel. I used mine for 15 years before the hose decayed and unfortunately this product has been long discontinued. That "A1 Hose" linked above looks like the same kind of hose. Too bad they don't sell a compact reel for it.

Update:
I have four hoses, two of them have lasted all summer and get used every day with no problems. The other two have the fix described in my first post and the ends of the hoses have held up nicely, however, one of them developed a hole in the covering material near the middle and the surgical tubing inside hemorrhaged to the size of a balloon before it burst all over Sally while she was watering the deck. I only wish I was there to witness it. We took it back to Walmart and after almost three months, got the full twenty bucks back and went to lunch. Not a bad day, in all.....

Must be beautiful living in Pilot Hill California, Dennis. I took a look on Google Maps and see it's adjacent to Folsom with its beautiful lake. Plus you have Tahoe not far to the north. Sweet!

I've lived in California twice, one time being stationed at Travis AFB and having gone north of Sacramento for hiking/camping trips. Loved it out there.

We certainly like it here, having prepared it for our retirement years starting some 25 years ago. All the trees are mature, the gardens are in. It helps that we are miles from the nearest road so the only thing you hear outside is birdsong, hawk calls, owl hoots, coyotes and bees. Oh... the neighbors across the canyon have peacocks and you sure can hear them all the way over here.

We're a long way from NJ but I bet life there is very similar to here, all things considered.

^ Sounds like a plan that worked out very well.

Oh, life is certainly different when considering the weather. If there's one thing I really appreciated about living in Northern California it was the long strings of sunny days in the summer. But granted, NJ has some wonderfully rural parts to it within a mere hour from NYC. You can easily get lost in the woods if you wish to.
