Default Just to let you know

Last week I was not feeling well and went to the doctor on Monday. From my description -- sensitive skin on the left hand side of my scalp from the crown forward, sensitivity on my left brow, and sensitivity on the skin on the left hand side of my face and chin. Light sentive in my left eye and headaches. I have the beginning stages of Shingles. Katharine had the Shingles on her body/trunk about five years ago. She experienced a lot of pain with it. The doctor is waiting until I have skin eruption/blisters before giving me Prednazone. He also says I have to see our Opthmologist and be under his care while I go thru this. I liken this to Beauty and the Beast -- the Shingles being the Beast! I plan to limit my contact with the grandbaby and others I know who may be ill or never had the chickenpox. I wish things would move a little faster so I can get thru this. I don't think it is going to be much fun!

Good Luck Gary.......I have been down that road . I just remember the pain in my spine and thinking that I must have pulled my back, soon after the blisters appear in the midsection, but the spine pain continued for a long time..........Patty

Gary:
Really sorry to hear you've hit one of life's potholes.
My Mom had them and just toughed it out without complaining much. Admirable I thought.
Hope to see you "all over it and well again" at the CHOPTAG tasting.
Best of luck to you,friend.

Gary,
Sorry to hear you may have Shingles. Everyone who's had the Chicken Pox is suseptible. It's bad to be beaten up by a disease early in life for it to come back later and do it again. I've had CP so I'll probably get it too. Kick it's butt. We'll see ya at the taste fest!!!

Hi Gary,
I just was looking around and happened on this post. I'm sorry to hear about your shingles! My grandmother had them last year, so I know what a pain it is to get them.
I hope your symptoms aren't too severe. I know they can vary.
Your CHOPTAG fest is the same day as the wedding I have to attend. Though with getting operated on the Monday afterwards, money would be tight to travel this year anyway. I hope I'll get to go next year.
Take care,
Remy

Gary, there is medicine you take BEFORE the blisters get bad --ie when you first know they may be coming on. It lessens the severity of the condition. You have to take the medicine immediately--once the blisters start is is too late. I am sorry I don't remember the name--some doctors apparently don't even know about it. My mother has had shingles several times so I researched what can be done.

Also they have just developed a vaccine--I cut out an article about it but will have to look for it.

Hope you have a mild episode and that it is not too late to check into the medicine available.
