Tom,

As you know, I’m quite new to crossing and stabilizing. From what I do know, all variations from your experience last year could be attributed to selecting plants that did not carry the dominant gene for those characteristics. It is likely that someone you shared seeds with will come up with something very close to the fruit you have pictured and it is seed from that fruit that you would want to continue saving. Not knowing exactly what generation this grow-out is on, it’s difficult to determine which plants will yield the desired fruit.

I’ll check back after work today…

Tom's Yellow Wonder: A very rewarding plant that will return next year. Terrific meatiness and great fruit size to more than a pound. Flavour has more depth to it than a routine yellow, with some tomatoey zing balanced with complexity. Not sweet like the Sneezy blushing yellows I've been eating of late. More of a seriously big beefy beefsteak. A great one for fresh eating on toast. Flavour 8/10 + 0.5pts for size, productivity and vigor = 8.5pts (very high for a yellow).

Last but not least, this was the first fruit. So who knows, it might be upgraded to 9pts in coming weeks. I have not one, but two TYWs standing 7ft and loaded in my late patch. What a treat

Lol Gimme... you were all on tenterhooks and poor Tom had a long and sleepless night. There was a lot of pressure on the tester, too, to please the crowd. But I maintained my impeccable integrity and called it as it was. Of course. Pretty productive, so two plants is quite a lot among my 68 this year

I am also one of the lucky ones to get seeds from Tom...it had already been on my list for this coming season...but after Grub's report and pictures...Tom's Yellow Wonder is going to be given a nice spot in the "front" row!

Tom,

They are still coming through, big yellas up to and over 1lb, and, incredibly, despite the heavy rains and splitters elsewhere, not a skin to be broken...

Plenty more. Ooh, this is a goodie... nothing more than toast and S&P needed. Tomorrow morning, I'll be dining out.

Would you say they've been coming in "mid-season" for you because you started these later ? Just curious about your DTM - They are usually about 70 - 75 days - Thanks so much for the pics - been logging them in as you send em ~
