Default Chanoka tomato from Vietnam

Folks, I distributed in 2012 some seeds of the Chanoka tomato that I bought in Hanoi. I want to report on this tomato so those with seeds can see what to expect.

The plant is robust, with very long fronds. It flowered a few days later than Black Cherry, around the same time as Cherokee Purple. It has shown no sign of any foliar or systemic disease, although a White Queen only 2 feet away is going down with fusarium.

It sets heavily - most blossoms have set fruit. The unripe tomatoes are a pleasing chartreuse green, and are somewhat elongated, although not quite a heart yet.

That is a pretty plant!

Homestead did something similar, with much shorter fronds, but droopy, in my garden. Seemed to provide a lot of cover for the tomatoes.

Exciting to see how they turn out!

16 large tomatoes hanging from the Chanoka today - more productive than any of my heirloom varieties. Ripening delayed in Atlanta due to the rain and cooler temps - everyone is waiting for their tomatoes.
