1st ripening fruit
I started 15 different varieties on February 2nd. Black Cherry is the winner for earliest to turn. The excitement level just went way up, knowing that all the others won't be too far behind.

Oh, congratulations! We all know that thrill of the first bit of color! Here's hoping you get a landslide more!

Congratulations wxc! I get really excited every year to start getting some turning ripe. Do you grow them in a greenhouse to get them so early? I am just 100 miles NE in Joplin and I am happy to get something ripe by July 1st. I am just now getting a few to set fruit.

I like my little greenhouse, where I can take it down once I plant out. My last one lasted 5 years, which I thought was pretty good for the small investment. I definitely couldn't have tomatoes before Memorial Day without it. Lee |

Finally !
My grape tomatoes starting to break color, starting from the stem end of the truss. I have hoped to have some ripes in May. Now I know it will happen.

First Cherry Tomato May 25 2018 Southern Ontario
I have my first cherry tomatoes turning red too. Yesterday, we had our first ripe cherry tomato.
I know these don't count as "real tomatoes" but up north here, we are thankful for any type of tomato that turns red this early. |

Tight competition here between Yagodka and Uralsky Ranniy. Am about 3-4 weeks away from any color break I think...
