Just discovered this thread. I like your experimentation Worth, with the drainless tubs. Have always been intrigued by the concept, and tried it on very small scale. Most efficient in saving both water and food, if one could regulate it well. Will need to check back in and understand the "sight tube."

Here is a description of the sight tube including pictuer.
The tube is clear so you can see the water level inside the container if any at all.
I use clear tubing inserted into the tub, whatever the water level is in the tub it will show in the tube.
To drain all I have to do is lay it down.

Looks goog, Worth.
So it serves as an indicator and also as drainage port when needed.

Nice early harvest.
My peppers are still growing , with lots of flowers. Few of them have tiny pods.

Thanks.
Came home today and tomato plants tops were sagging, needed water.
Before I even went in the house I gave them all a cool drink.

Picked my first blushing tomato of the season.
Have no clue as to what it is.
Reason, it was an extra baby plant in the plants I bought and it doesn't look like the rest of the mortgage lifter plants.
Don't care what it is.

Thank you.
Yesterday I picked 4 tomatoes and ate one out in the garden.
I put the other three on the side of the truck.
Went inside to do something and then drove to town.
Get to town to get salad fixings for them and remember the tomatoes on the side of the truck, "S of a B".

Travelling maters! You see, even a no name tomato wants to disperse its seeds.

The plants look good but dropping blossoms like there ain't no tomorrow.
If it keeps up I will just collect what tomatoes I have and chop the plants down.
I wont feed tomato plants for nothing.

For those that have been keeping up with my thread I grew nothing but mortgage lifter plants.
This is a sport from one of those plants.
This is how new varietys get discovered.
It is yellow with a red blush on the bottom.
Will be saving seeds for sure.
Yes the plant has regular looking tomatoes too.
At first I thought it was sun scalded but no.
This means I have the right to name this tomato.
Worth's cactus cooler.

Obvious genetic throwback to the original tomato genes somehow.
