Yes. Yes I would.

The LakeTainer is an obvious solution. As usual.

HA! Good point RebelRidin! It is a creek that sometimes just gets too much water. The other night we got about 4 inches of water in all so it overflowed its banks. There are ducks and all sorts of woodland animals around here. And, no, it isn't likely to do it again this year. Very good suggestion on contacting my local ag extension folks...

lowlylowlycook - firstly, if you're really Alton Brown then WOOHOOO! I love you! secondly - pictures man! They aren't in your laketainer thread any more.

Babice, you aren't seeing the pics in the above post?

Also, sadly, I am not Alton Brown.

Nope - I see the ones Crandrew posted in this thread but not in the link you put in your post? Maybe it's my work computer. It does weird things.

Babice, the same "cant see pic" issue just happened to me in another thread. Caused the OP to get very sad. Go figure. Maybe there is a glitch, but I can see his laketainer pics.

If it isn't likely to happen again this year I'd definitely grow stuff there. If should be very fertile. The history of the NIle RIver is of people growing on the plains near the river where flooding would restore the fertility.
