Default Supermarket

Is that one that should go by the way side? Was old old package and I just put the seeds in a pot to see and they have came up The other four kinds so far have not. It was originally a .35 cent pack of seed. I was cleaning out some old red tomato seed. I have looked it up and says a green wrap market fruit. Any one else grow it? Would it be a storage one? Asgro Seed put out in 64. Rice seed put out this package seed. Date is not clear. Should I plan to save seed from it if it makes here? Medium late tomato. Medium to large in size.

Supermarket (XP 3391). Breeder and vendor: Asgrow Seed Co. Characteristics: determinate vine cultivar for green-wrap market; fruit with green shoulder. Similar: Homestead 24. Resistance: Cladosporium, Stemphylium, fusarium, and alternaria. Adaptation: southern and Gulf States; semitropical areas. 1964.

Information from NCSU Cultivar Lists, Tomatoes S-Z. Doesn't say whether hybrid. Since you got it to sprout, maybe save some seed if you like the tomato. Somebody may find it useful for growing in hot humid climates.

I did not know what it was when I got the seed. I got batch of old seed at the Salvation Army years back before I knew what about tomatoes . I planted it to clean out and I never looked it up before planting. DUMB I guess. Nothing on the package to say what kind of tomato it was but name. I got infor off that site and they usually say if it is hybrid so I take it is not. After reading this maybe be a like Long Keeper to store. I do not think any tomato would tastes good picked green. BUT as good as store tomatoes. Which I do not buy. But be nice if would keep to Xmas. We start frosting out here like end of Sept. I guess I can experiment with it. But probably much better ones.
