varieties for this spring

I am listing the varities I intend to plant in the next few weeks for this spring. That way I can stop obsessing about it and actually plant them. Most I will only have one plant of, some I might even have to remove, but it really depends on how many more Earth Tainers I can build and raised beds I can put in.

I would like to thank everyone who has shared seeds with me. (You know who you are) I have gone bonkers trying to limit which ones to grow.

Good thing I have a spring and fall planting schedule and also several friends to plant seeds for just so I can try all the varities I have been sent.

Kat, there is so much I want to ask but I will limit it to 2 questions and 2 statements,
at this time.

Have you ever started seeds before and when do you plan on starting.
You simply must grow at least a few Cherokee Purple plants this year.
You need to start seeds NOW.

I started seeds last year for the first time. (I think about a million, kept giving them away forever) Last average frost day here is 3/15. Figured starting everything within the next week. Getting the seed soil today. I am planting 2 cherokee purple plants over at my daugher's house. Can't wait to try them. Did I pass? And shoot away! Also yes I know I am biting off more than I can chew in advance, I like a challenge!

wow, you're all inspiring (and funny). this is my first year starting tomatoes from seeds, and i shall start them this weekend (6 varieties from tgs). i have twelve (12) plants coming from laurel's.

What, no pinks? no whites? no bicolored???? How about smooth vs. fuzzy?

i know exactly what you mean about color/size/shape sorting being helpful. There is a site out there (that I shall not name here, because their data is all wrong) with a front page that has links sorted by tomato color, with just ONE picture of ONE tomato of every color, all on ONE page.

It was just exactly the simple type of key I needed at the time to visualize what the many, many different varieties might look like.

I stand corrected,
30 kinds of tomatoes.
large pink ones
medium pink ones
small pink ones

I have tried several types of striped and they were no good in production and or taste.
I forgot to get Dr Carolyn's White this year so I will wait till next year for it.
