Show your butterfly and hummingbird gardens/plants

GrowingCoastal those are wonderful pictures. I love phygellius capensis. I used to have one of the color that you have. The birds in my yard preferred it to the red or the purple. My birds loved it once they figured out how to use this one. If per chance you save some seed, I sure would not mind receiving some.

All right! (note to self) I will watch for them to set seed and save some for you. They grow from cuttings quite easily, too, in case you see one in your travels.

Thanks for the encouragement Bower. That white rambling rose gives me acupuncture treatments whether I need them or not any time I go near it. Was brutalized by another rose today - ouch! when I should have been reading the book I put down, one by Mary Walsh. Just can't sit still out there, compelled to be a busy body tending the tomatoes.

Thank you! So very much appreciated. They set seed quite readily. I sent some to an internet gardening friend in Canada and they grew for her just fine.

Interesting plant, too. Does the butterfly feed on the Asimina's flowers?

Asimina's flowers are not attractive to insects and bloom very early in the spring.

Aunt Jane, I have never seen that butterfly before. Very unusual. I was lucky and caught swallowtail on the pentas. I'm not a very good photographer.

Adding to the garden early in the year. They look unusual.

Sweet! I can't tell you how many years I spent chasing butterflies around my garden trying to get a decent picture. You're doing just fine!

I won't have hummingbirds back until the fall migration around the third week of August. The torrenia is a favorite and so is the red salvia, which reseeds everywhere.

I was trying to catch him/her on some blue plumbago flowers but he flew away and landed on a branch of a peach tree that is hanging over the fence into my yard.

A beautiful butterfly, such one does not fly here. My garden is abundant with another butterflies, for example Inachis io.
