We have a small family business, so I usually give quite a few of them to our customers. They always seem to appreciate them.

I had about 35 plants last year. Most died due to several issues. I learned I love home made pasta Sauce. I got the compliment "It tastes bettter than in a restarunt (sp)!" I have a daughter -in-Law that is aspiring to be a chef. We are going to create some recipies this year. I see canning and freezing of sauces. Our church also helps to sponser a soup kitchen. I feel like I can give away alot there. That is what I am hoping anyway, If I can keep enough plants alive to do all this. I also like the idea of putting on of plays. a couple of years ago We grew a garden at church for the children. It was called our service garden. It made the preacher nervous when he saw all the people with raw tomatoes. He stated that he felt like he had better do well or people might start throwing them at him. SO I guess that is yet another use!

Don't forget the fact that when you have too many ripening all at once, those that are over ripe, split, or otherwise not great for eating, make good seeds. Even just about a gallon of mushy tomatoes in a bucket will give you possibly a 1/2 oz of seeds from some of the seedier varieties.

I'll arrange the pretty ones in artistic displays around the house and act out plays with them for the kids.

Hey, kids, let's put on a show!

Make lots of good marinara sauce......if in the mood during August, we make alot alot alot of pints. We use about 48 pints/yr. And the balance goes to family...and a few friends. They really appreciate it. And we get at least half the jars back for re-use !!!!!
