Default Looks Like A Cousin To A Hornworm, But...

I was checking my rain tanks and happened to see this thing on a weed that grew this year. What in the cathair is this thing. The grayish white end was the gobbling mouth and head.

Did you intend to show us a picture of the gobbling mouth?I know several humans with gobbling mouths, but I know that's not what you are looking for.

Sorry, hit the wrong key and only chaos after that. Now it's okay.

I might be scarred for life after googling "Ugly green caterpillar with horns", most make this guy look like a sweet little teddy bear, but I found it.

With my luck, the "blue-ish green" version will be the only one to eat tomato foliage. I did leave the little feller on the pretty blooming bush. It didn't seem to like the color contrast and quickly moved onto some green leaves. I looked for the aggressive mockingbird that lurks in that area, but didn't see "his royal noisiness". He wakes us up most mornings and is as loud as the robin nesting in the pine tree - who has been known to sing all night long causing blood-shot eyes and a sharp temper among the residents of The Muddy Bucket Farm.

The giveaway is the false head, the scorpion imprint on back, all natural camo, might morph into a pretty butterfly, big grass hopper,or ugly massive moth like in the movies.

That really is an ugly caterpillar, but oh what a lovely butterfly he will become .

Fortunately, they don't eat tomato foliage

I'm so glad you (and kelpie!) posted this... I know the butterfly but hadn't met the cat. Ugly = beautiful in butterfly world.

Was it on that cherry to start? It would be best back on its original food plant. Yes, these turn into very pretty butterflies!
