Default Double sow?

I bought two Big Beef plants today to replace some that were damaged by frost. Both had two plants in the container. I planted both plants in one hole, but started to wonder if I should have just clipped one off and planted one. What do the villains think?

Yank the weaker one out and pot it in a 16 oz cup for a spare

Big Beef is the only variety I purchase (meaning the rest I grow from seeds). I do have some Big Beef op seeds, but I like buying the hybrid plants and getting a head start. I always look for 2 or more plants in the container and separate them and plant both. Works well and saves a little $.

If I understood correctly, you put them in one hole in the ground, not in a container. FWIW I'd leave them alone and give them a little extra fertilizer if they seem to need it, but if they're in the ground and aren't unduly crowded by other plants I think they'll do fine.
