Benewah
We had first ripe tomatoes from three varieties yesterday. Biggest and best tasting was Benewah.
I have been trying to find photo of this variety, because mine had really green shoulders, even the sides were getting a bit soft. The photos I googled show normal round red tomatoes. The plant is aobut 2 feet tall and has produced 8 fruits (lost one to Botrytis ). It is growing in quite small SWC. Taste of this one was sweet and yet tangy, the meat was juicy, but not soggy. I think that I have never eaten more delicious tomato, but this was the first of the season after eating the commercially grown ones quite long. Thanks to Sue B for sending me the seeds! I recounted the green ones on the plant and found 11 big ones and couple of small. Since the season is ending here soon, I cut of the flowers hoping that it would speed up growth and ripening of the immature fruit.
Next year I'll try this one in a bigger container.
