Default Mary Ann??

Could someone tell me if this is Mary Ann.

I looked in Dr. Male's book and they do look similar but not sure. Thanks, Amideutch

I can't be sure either, just looking at one picture but my guess is that they aren't what I know as Mary Ann.

Those fruits look smaller than the one pounders I usually get and the fruits also are much more oblate ( flattened) than what you show.

There has been a problem with Mary Ann seed out there and there are two folks to whom I sent some of my old seed who were able to get them going and I'm looking forward to getting back true MA seed.

What was your seed source?

Thank you for your reply Dr. Male. The seed source was Manfred Hahm off of Reinhard Krafts website. I must say the taste of the tomatoes was quite good.
Could you give me a source where I can get Mary Ann?
Again thanks for your help.

My Mary Ann doesn't look like yours either,Theodore. Most are as Carolyn described. All well over a #but none ripe yet.

I've looked thru my files and can't find my seed source.I did participate in 2 of your seed offers over at GW Carolyn, could it have been you?I did get several of the variety's that you sent to"wake up",so to speak. If so,I'll be more than happy to send fresh seed back .It's a very nice tasting tomato, imo!

My Mary Ann seed is from Carolyn -
and in my opinion, it all lies within
how the leaves look ~
To me, its very different than other
RL leaves - The one I have growing
matches the description in Carolyns book -
I have a couple close to ripe ones "waiting" on my plant ...
I'll post pics of leaf, fruit, sliced, as well as
tasting report ~

The only commercial source I know of is Sandhill Preservation and there have been reports that it isn't right either and as soon as Tom and I think it was Tree, send me back some fresh seed that's true, I'll send some to Glenn.

Manfred Hahm and Reinhard are kind of partners in that Manfred produces seed from Reinhard's varieties.

I've now sent over 200 varieties to Reinhard over the past few years but would have to look to see if Mary Ann was one of them.In any case, what you show really doesn' match what I know as Mary Ann. Sigh.

If there are other commercial sources I don't know about them and haven't Googled or checked others to find out. Sorry.

Carolyn,

If the picture in your book
is the real Mary Ann,
I'm very sure the one
plant I grew from your seed
you sent me from 93' is true ...
As I've meantioned before, I only got
1 plant out of all those "older" seed ~
There are 4 fruits on the plant right now,
with one almost ready to be picked ...
They really need to be sent to Carolyn FIRST -
Then off to "production" !

I can also note, another
source sent me Mary Ann seed,
but none germinated ...

Bully told me his Mary Ann came out
PL ~

Yes Tom, the picture in my book is the real Mary Ann.

Do you know the source of Bully's MA that was PL.

Perhaps I sent him old seeds as well, but I don't recall that and I don't remember anyone else getting PL MA's from my listing in the SSE Yearbook, but then one never knows for sure.

I don't recall where his source was ...
But my other source that did not germinate,
was a SSE member ... I wonder what they would have
been !
Anyway, I'll ask Bully if he could buzz
in this thread to give us his "whats what" ~

Yeah, mine looks like the right thing, other than it's potato leaf. I like the flavor.
I can't remember the seed source. I know it was a tomatovillian because I asked for seeds here in the exchange forum.
I think it was our first post in that forum.
Carolyn offered to send me seeds but then someone else read it and mailed them off immediatly so I was all set.

Did anyone ever find a source for Mary Ann Seeds? I saw it in Carolyn's book and thought it might be a good candidate for my 2009 garden. I had no idea seeds would be so hard to find. I found some on the Appalachians Heirlooms website but the picture didn't look anything like I was expecting. Does anybody know of a source?
thanks
