Some people have asked me why on earth would anyone want to be able to measuer that accurate. Simple answer is gauge blocks and standards for a couple. Gauge blocks didn't start being used until the very early 1900's. Man by the name of Johansson from Sweden converted his wife's singer sewing machine into a grinder and lapping machine to make them. I have always looked up to these people that made something out of nothing practically by hand. They put us where we are today. |

One thing that gets me is the fine touch and feel you would have to have operating the machine with such a low gear reduction.
People mess up reading micrometers because of it by turning the dial too hard when it comes to a stop against the material you are measuring. |

Tomato plants at Home Depot
These were for sale at HD today. Too early to put into the ground! I wouldn't even consider doing that for at least 4 more weeks.

Thanks for the photo! I haven't grown Husky Cherry Red in a number of years and I thought they were great little plants with tasty fruit. I wanted to grow them again, but I could not find any seed for sale. Now I have hope Bonnie will have some at my local HD. It will probably be six too eight weeks before we can consider planting out in North Texas

I may be wrong, but they look like young collard greens to me. I have been harvesting some small leaves for salads for a week or two. I should be able to harvest some larger leaves for a pot of greens in a week or two. My mustard greens and turnip greens are much larger than the collard greens right now. We have mid 20's weather coming this weekend. It will be interesting to see which varieties of greens survive and which are killed by the freeze. I expect to lose my lettuce, but I'm not sure about some of the others. My Swiss chard will surely bite the dust, but I'm not sure about the beets and spinach. It looks like you found a hole and some rebar. Has Geraldo Rivera been around" I don't think he ever found Al Capones treasure. All he ever found was a hole in the basement and a couple of empty beer bottles. All he proved was people drank on the job even in those days. He and the Kardasian's have proved you don't need talent or accomplishments to become a celebrity.

Some photos of a good Spanish breakfast.
Bread with tomato, with virgin olive oil, and a dollop of salt, can be accompanied with a little ham
