I saw it too, but having grown Blue Berries and yellow pear I can say for sure that whoever wrote that article never tasted either one.

I was going to say the same thing! I'll tell you though, a lot of people do like Yellow Pear. To each his own right?

I live in a duplex and my upstairs neighbors all LOVE Yellow Pear. My childhood best friend (and her dad and her grandpa) loved it. Her grandpa used to drop off paper bags of them in the church hallway (it's where everyone brought zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes that were extra lol) and as kids we would sneak out and grab handfuls to snack on behind the building. I tried it again last year (the upstairs neighbors' dad grew it) and yep. Same simply sweet tomato. Okay for snacking, but I prefer SunGold for a sweet prolific snacking tomato.

And none of them liked the Black Cherries I shared (my personal favorite).

Here's what I listed last Sept and said I hadn't given deep thought to it..

Black Cherry
Verde Claro
Green Zebra Cherry
Galina's Yellow
Sungold F1
Casino Chips or Mt Magic F1

But just reading through this entire thread again since right now I don't to do what I should be doing, I'll add as other possibilities

Iva's Red Berry
Gardener's Delight
Chadwick Cherry
Green Doctors, and the clear epidermis version called GD Frosted
Some Bumble Bees and Tigers of Fred's
Zluta Kytice

OK,enough already.

Freda was just here and brought in some of my miniature daffodils since low tomorrow night going down to 20F and there go the many wee leaves on the lilacs and honeysuckle and other flowering bulbs to be and even more important for the local economy, the apple and pear commercial orchards as well as the commercial strawberry places .

No doubt, one thing I'm learning more all the time is taste are so insanely different that some people enjoy wet cardboard.

Has anyone tried Tel Aviv Train? I posted several months ago on the Dig site. No results. I have seedlings growing and hope to have results this Summer. Plan to save and ferment seed...

I still find Sweet 100 hard to beat. Although it tends to crack toward the end of the season, the cracked ones are still great for cooking. They are very, very sweet but still have the old time tomato flavor. And production is outstanding. I would pick a bucket full per plant every few days. The plants get quite tall.

I am going to add Galina's to what ever list I had.
Which I think may have been Riesentraubeand Black cherry.
So far an outstanding performer in partial shade and cooler weather and am just waiting on taste.
Which wont be long.

Growing this year as well as Little Willie Mouthful. We will see. I usually can rely on Tania description to be right on for me.

Well, I still stick to this but am testing Black Cherry this year.

One year I had a single Large Red Cherry and let it grow through the summer and into fall. Each sucker was allowed to grow and I covered them with dirt when they were 3 feet long. That one Large Red Cherry filled an entire 4x8' raised bed. But it's just not my favorite taste, Gardeners Delight is better in my opinion.

I'm trying Black Cherry too, comparing it to Carbon Copy. I only had few seeds of CC, and only one germinated. Yeah this morning an animal messed up a pepper seedling, removed it from the pot on the porch, crap! Here again few seeds, I do have another Diamond White bell pepper. I don't have anymore seed, so hopefully I can keep it alive.

If I were to grow only cherry tomatoes - my family and friends would be very happy. They like the different tastes and that they can eat them like popcorn.

Maybe they're too lazy to use a knife?
