More About Besser
The Tomatovillian who shared the seeds for Besser sent me this link which shows a Besser fruit that is the same size as the ones in my garden.
http://blog.tomatenundanderes.at/ind...tabtomate.html Which description is correct, this one or the one on Heirloom Seeds' website? #137 - BESSER★★ 75 days - From the southern area of Germany (Freiburg region), this old favorite dates back to the 1800's, and is a must for any tomato lover!★ The plants produce 3/4 inch diameter fruit in clusters of up to 12, very sweet, cherry tomatoes. The vigorous vines need strong cages for support.★ Best tasting cherry tomato we've tried!★ Proudly introduced in the United States by Heirloom Seeds.★★ Indeterminate vines. |

I was just feeling a tad guilty since there were three others who did post early so and I told them to wait until I put up that Fall thread. Sometimes guilt can feel good, as long as it's good guilt. Carolyn

More About Brutus
Just saw this photo of Brutus which looks much more like a beefsteak than mine. It seems to have many more locules than the 5 that I'm seeing here.

Durmitor-Not
These seeds from Carolyn's 2013 offer were supposed to produce cherry tomatoes but the 2 plants I grew out look to be identical but are producing 9-18 oz. juicy pink fruits. Early cat-facing was severe but later fruits are smooth, tasty and abundant. The plants are still only 4' tall. Looking forward to seeing what others got when the fall reports come in.

Seeds from Alex to me, then seeds to Craig for plants for me.And someone else grew them out as well for seed production. So probably a X pollination somewhere. Carolyn

VERY tall plant had rather low production with the staking I did and had trouble with BER even up the the top. Large fruits ranged from 14-23 oz.

This is a really nice plant- short, healthy and loaded with pretty fruits that are in the 6-12 oz. range so far. It won in a dark taste-off beating out Hugh's Black and PPP x PP "C"!

Some cat-facing but most fruits are pretty and shiny and have ranged from 10-18 oz. so far. The plant is still healthy and has good fruit set all the way up.
