Hmmm!
Well I guess you'll make them perfect.
Are the rivets all good?

The rivets are fine and perfection isn't in my blood.
All you need is a small knife a file a brass wire or stainless wire brush the size of a tooth brush some 240 and 400 grit black sand paper.
You sharpen the small knife and role the edge over to one side with round steel stock like a screw driver so you can use it as a scraper to shave the wood off and maintain the lines on the wood.

The wire brush is used to clean the file and sand paper.

I don't have a problem with any of my (duly blunt) knife handles but I could sure use a tutorial about putting handles back on tools. Including my (ever sharp) axes. I have a couple that have got loose, now I can't use them. But worse, I have garden tools with no handle at all.. and especially my very favourite pick mattock. Which has been sitting for a good while, waiting for me to figure it out. Yes, not just a klutz, but also an ignoramus!
I could fix all of that, expertly..in a matter of a few hours, if I were there. But, it would take me a week of typing "one finger style" to tell you how to do it yourself...if you didn't ask any questions while I was typin'..

Our old hickory knives are in two places. Two are in a toolbox out in the mechanics building...and the other is stabbed into a post at the compost bin. They were bought 30 years ago and still keep a sharp edge.

I know, but all three have purposes, and they do their jobs well.

Sometimes..., I wish I could say the same about myself.

I cant imagine even beginning to explain how to do it.
It has been years since I re-handled a tool like a pick, axe or sledge hammer.

I was in the store a while back and noticed the handle was as expensive as the tool itself.

Salt I think Old Hickory and Green River may be the last of the carbon steel knife makers in the US.
I Have no idea how good they are today.

I still have one butcher knife some place in the shed I have no idea where it is.
It must be around 50 years old or more.

Lets see if I can get this straight.
The dark stuff I let the milk solids caramelized a wee bit and has a nutty flavor, the other is infused with garlic.
All made from scratch.
Yard Bird is soaking in the butter milk.
