I have been looking around and found the the Aji Amarillo #2 is what the link calls Capsicum chinense.
Aji Amarillo as we know it is Capsicum Baccatum.
To farther confuse things Aji Limo is Capsicum chinense while Aji Limon or Lemon drop is Capsicum Baccatum and people are mixing them up.

Or at least this is what I am reading.

I bought some Aji hot sauce at Kroger last night to try on my chili. It was really good, a unique fruity flavor and medium heat.

Interesting, Worth.

I think the Baby Aji Amarillo that I have is also a baccatum, because I have seen no evidence of it ever crossing with any of the Caribbean Seasoning peppers (Capsicum chinense) that I have.

I think it may be derived from a Aji Amarillo grande (Baccatum) crossed to Aji Limon, as the plants and fruits look very similar to Aji Limon, but they ripen more towards orange than Aji Limon. But, this is just a guess.

It was originally sold by Seeds of Change, but they are not selling it anymore. Probably because they realize that it is not "bona fide" Aji Amarillo (the pepper I am selling as Aji Amarillo Grande)

Fred you could be on to something.
Right now I am growing Aji Limon and your Aji Amarillo side by side.
I am very attentive to variations in plant growth structure leaf shape and color.
I can't tell one from the other.
Looking forward to seeing the fruit and testing for size color and flavor later on.
Everything being done the same Fresno is a darker green than either of the before mentioned plants with a slightly narrower leaf.

Worth,

It is great that you are growing Aji Limon side-by-side with what I am calling Baby Aji Amarillo. Please do let me know how they compare.

I actually grew them both last year. I didn't think about it until now but there were only two differences between them -- the color and the heat level. Your Baby Aji Amarillo ripened to orange and was fruity with just a little heat. Aji Limon was golden yellow and very hot. Otherwise, from what I recall, the plants, the way the peppers grew on them, and the shape and size of the peppers were identical.

You might be on to something, Fred.

The obvious question now is: Which of the two are you growing this year?

Aji Amarillo Grande!

And I'm skipping Aji Limon this year only because I've grown it three years in a row and have an overstock of dried whole peppers, powder and hot sauce made with them

Fred: Happy to report the bonus Aji seeds that came with Orange Jazz had the best germination I've ever seen in pepper seeds. Day 0 was 2/7 and they were up before Valentine's day. No stragglers. No heat mat, just next to the hot side of the fridge in a saran wrapped 4 in pot.

Thank you!

I am also growing seeds I saved last year from your baby Aji Amarillo. I planted Aji Limon yesterday. One of the sites I looked at called Aji Limon - Lemon Drop. I thought those two were different?

Nope they are the same.
I would get tired of writing lemon drop and would write Aji limon on the labels.

It is really Aji Limo.

I am growing the baby Aji Amarillo. Won't be able to do the comparison between Aji Limon. I am growing the Aji Pineapple.
