Okay, I upated with later posts. I believe Cherokee Purple has moved up one, and as I mentioned I had combined KB and KBX into one. Also I spotted one or two Paul Robeson which were spelled slightly differently.

My new favorite name, and one I hadn't heard of before - also a failed Florida attraction, by the way: "Stump of the World!"

Look at Marianne Jones site for what reason? No doubt many who are posting their grow lists have done so based on what I've seen as to varieties listed in the several threads with grow out lists.

So why are you suggesting that folks go Marianne's site, specifically? Just curious b'c since I've been here since Jan of 2006 I don't think I've ever see anyone in the middle of a thread suggest that folks go somewhere specific without saying for what reason.

Look at what? If you mean their genetically unstable cesspool of 2013 offerings, no thank you.

Whenever you visit my grave,

say to yourselves with regret

but also with happiness in your hearts

at the remembrance of my long happy life with you:

"Here lies one who loved us and whom we loved."

No matter how deep my sleep I shall hear you,

and not all the power of death

can keep my spirit

from wagging a grateful tail.

Dak, Mischka was referring to the many new unstable tomato varieties listed in the 19 pages of new ones added for 2013 and not the peppers.

I don't know anything about the peppers and haven't seen anyone post anything about those.

That makes me feel better, Carolyn, thanks for the clarification.

So, I've added Dester to my list, and since I had to order from
rareseeds, I went ahead and ordered another variety I had my eye on there, Abu Rawan. Making plans for a new raised bed.

Ella, I have LOTS of varieties you might consider, but best to work with your list above as I see it, so let me make just a few comments abdout some of the above varieties.

Joe Bratka bred and named a variety Sara Black, said it was from relatives in Germany, but it wasn't, sonot anheirloom. Somehow it got translated to German which is what you listed it as, but it should be Sara Black as Joe named it.

German Queen is pink, not red

Omar's Lebanese is pink

Mortgage Lifter is pink, not red unless you're growing the Mortgage Lifter that Jeff MC Cormack bred, former owner of SASE, which is red with some disease tolerant genes bred in.

Eva purple Ball is pink, no purple at all. In older times the word purple was used to indicate a pink variety so Aunt Ginny's Purple is pink, Prudens Purple is pink, etc.

When in doubt about the color of a variety being pink or red, you can take a piece of the thin epidermis and hold it up to the light and if it's clear, the variety is pink, and if yellow it's red. It's best to use a known red and known pink at the same time so you have direct comparisons.

Hope that helps.

Carolyn, who probably missed some variety comments but she's in a hurry right now.

Here goes nothin"

Since I'm trying grafting this year, I've cut back on the number of plants and varieties. Still, there are bound to be some losses, so there's no telling how many of these will actually make it to the garden.

Hopefully, there should be at least one non-grafted plant left over per variety. So, even if the grafts don't take, there should still be something to plant.

Cherry
White Rabbit (not grafting this one)
Black Cherry

Green
Green Zebra
Aunt Ruby's German Green

Yellow
TC Jones

Orange
Juanne Flamme
KBX

Red
Kibic (Kibit's Ukrainian) (not grafting this one)
Franks large Red

Pink
Cowlick Brandywine
Arkansas Traveler

Black
Black Trifele
Cherokee Purple

Bicolor
Hillbilly

Dwarf
10 Tasmanian Red/Pink plants from the project. (Not grafted)

Somehow my tomato seed collection is now at 42 varieties, so it was REALLY hard to prune it down to 14. The hope is that at least a few of these will really stand out and produce this year.

Here's to a successful and fun growing season for all!
