I seeded them directly. The seeds are big to have enough power in it. Go for it. It is my third year growing okra. Most in containers. They like sun and heat. In ground and less sun did not do so well.

I had to go to the area supplier, who luckily has a decent selection of heirlooms, but they don't sell any of my preferences.
Few years ago my seedlings stopped growing as well. I started new batch, unfortunately. Later on I learned it was gnats eating roots of my plants. They do not kill plants, just make them stop growing. Peroxide mixed with water does the trick and drying soil. Gnats look like small fly and its their larva that eats roots. Next time mix 3 parts water and one part peroxide and water soil. Try to dry it as much as possible without killing seedlings.

Wow, Ella. I am so jealous of your gorgeous berries!

All of your plants look fantastic

How does that Carbon Copy measure up against our beloved Black Cherry?

Kelli, the CC plant looks as big as Bl. Cherry. So far, setting very good. Not as many fruit in a single cluster as Blondkopfchen has. The taste was good for the first picked tomato. I did not let it get ripe enough. Will be tasting side by side soon. More fruits are having some color developing.

Surprisingly one Biyskaya Roza tomato and one Grandfather Ashlock are changing color as well.

I pruned all the bottom leaves. Already getting mold and looks like early blight and septoria right next to each other.

I removed most infected leaves two days ago. Still found today some to take pictures of.

Great graphic photos of some really nasty stuff! Better get the copper spray to them ASAP.
So sorry your beautiful plants are getting these infections.

Marsha, I am not sure about coper. Is it organic? I only spray organic staff. I have allergies. I used soda and liquid detergent for grey mold and some epsom salt for plants to quickly regrow leafs. And hope for the weather to improve. I guess, will be removing more leafs soon. It is what it is. You win some, you loose some. It looks like mostly grey mold.
Talavera Native is setting lots go tomatoes. Marsha, I hope it likes it here.

btw, Robin, I used your method of controlling spider mites with DE this year again. Thanks.
The 3 out of 4 Crimson Streak plants are at least 30 feet away from the rest of the plants.

Yes, copper spray is OMRI listed, and is organic. Also, plants need copper!

Ella,

I'm glad the DE spray is working for you too! This morning I just found one leaf on one plant with the beginnings of the dreaded spider mite damage. I removed the leaf and I'm going out there right now to coat that plant in DE.

Which product would you recommend? I never used it before.

I would use the copper spray and following that in a few days try 1 cup milk (any %) to 1 gallon of water and spray that on for the gray mold. It even seems to have some lasting effects as a preventative.

Thank you. Patti. I have tried once using buttermilk.
