Riesentraube : Grape not cherry.
I am not into tiny fruits that like 10 of them weigh an ounce. That is why I picked Riesentrabe. I hope it does well for me.
I am also growing Hahms Gelbe Topftomate. But it is more of an ornaments @ 10" height.
I have tried Sweet 100, Super Sweet 100 and SunGold and some large red cherry. I liked the red cherry but I am replacing it w/ Riesentraube this year.

I hope Riesentraube does good for you this year.
The full flavor comes out when they are red ripe and they wont split getting there.

Riesentraube. The name means giant bunch of grapes, but it IS a cherry tomato. I think it has assertive flavour.

I know it is a cherry tomato but it is oblong.
What makes a cheery tomato a cherry and a grape tomato a grape?

Mine weren't oblong, they were round with nipples. Take a look at the picture over on Tania's site. Could you possibly have an "off" type? It might explain why you love it so much and I don't particularly . It's not a spitter by any means though and it's very prolific.

You know you may be on to something I just looked on line at images of raised a snob and some of the fruit is more round than others.
TGS is elongated and other pictures are more round.
I will have to pay more attention this year.

I think Germans won't call it " ...Traube" if it was not grape shape.
Germans are very strict, linguistically as compared to English.
I checked Google I saw some that were almost round, as linda mentioned. But I like this one. Looks like grape to me.

Carolyn's description says elongated.

There must be an impostor out there giving it a bad name.

I think someone in the US just started calling it a cherry tomato.

Just like many of these goof balls around here mispronounce the Spanish and German names we have for streets and towns.
Can you get New Brownsfields out of New Braunfels?

The Yanks probably called it a "cherry" because "grape" tomatoes haven't been around that long? Just guessing....
