It looks like the little tomato plants are starting to perk up in their new home.
Yesterday I found one sun gold in laying on the ground all shriveled up some critter dug it up but it is okay today. The okra hasn't sprouted yet but I keep checking on it. I have one more side bed I dont know what I am going to do with. Maybe yellow squash no cucumbers but it is a wee bit cold at night for them yet. Both that is what I will do. Worth |

Isn't it strange how some tomatoes can be so tough and some so prone to problems?

Coming along nicely, Worth.
Talking about squash, I have planted cukes, melons (direct sown) ... One variety of cukes has been up for couple of days now. Watermelon will be next. Alternatively I have sowed some melon , okra and cukes in pots. They go in the cold frame at night. TWO days an nothing is up.

Thank you. I was going to comment that I have never in my life seen so many stinking stink bugs. They are frigging everywhere. Maybe ten at my back door. Everywhere I look I see stink bugs. My grape vines had some sort of wee bug sucking on them plus caterpillars eating and I sprayed them with ammonia glass cleaner that kicked them down big time. Then I washed the vines off with water then hit them with something I am not supposed to have. I see no more bugs or worms as of today. They were eating and sucking the tender growing tips. Later I will mix up some of my secret kerosene and mineral oil/ISO 46 hydraulic fluid spray and test it on a plant or two. It hasn't hurt any plant I have sprayed it on yet but killed every bug I have sprayed. The other day some Korean or Japanese women one older and one young came walking by and complemented me on the place. I dont mean to sound stereotypical but I take this as a very high complement. These folks take gardens meaning yard also seriously. They told me where they live and I hope I can give them some okra. They love okra and told me so. Worth |

I did the okra like on post 31. They have tails now. I'll be planting them today.

I came home expecting to pick okra and the seeds haven't even sprouted yet.
This is ridiculous it has been all of two days on the first bed since planting seeds. Not happy with this brand of seeds I should be picking okra by now. Worth |

On the stink Bugs : Luckily I have seen two or three of the so far.
On the Okra : I sowed mine in pots and kept them in cold frame and out in the sun during the day. I scratched the top of soil and sow them sprouting. So were the cukes. Few more nights with lows in 40s , then back up to 50s and 60s overnight. Perfect okra and corn weather. I think my bean seeds rotted. Probably because I soaked them for too long : ~~48 hrs. Gotta re sow some more.

Oh heck, I didn't plant the okra today! I just looked --- everything's okay. The okra seeds grew a mouth and teeth to bite fleas off their long bushy tail. |

I got home and I saw one starting to come out of the soil.
At this rate I should be picking at least a bucket full by this weekend. Worth |

I got home yesterday and started seeing more plants popping up in the rows. The temperatures aren't exactly what I wanted a little cold but it is gong to warm up again. I have to do this to beat the snails at night. If I tried it later I would have nothing they would be eaten as soon as they sprouted. Worth |

My okra sprouted in pots. I will wait until Monday to plant them out. This coming FRi Sat, Sunday nights the lows will be in 40F to 45F range. I think it is too cold for okra. Then it will go back up to 50s.

You sure you're growing okra and not kudzu?
