She is stingy with seeds, particularly the early fruits which are often compketelyvseedless as is the case so far this year. I will save seeds though and put up a separate thread with an offer tovtrial a few for those interested once I have enough.

Great looking tomato. Will try to get seed when you offer it to grow here in nc. The name is terrific.

Thank you for the feedback Bower, That sounds about right
![]() I personally have never grown another tomato as large that was as early. I also find it very disease resistant overall. Did it succumb to any disease pressure for your friend or did it last the season KarenO |

Re: disease pressure, it did a bit better than P Lyubov and Chernomor at least held out a bit longer, but those two were stricken early on by some mystery blight (which then spread to the other beefs). It was about as good as Ukraine Purple in the same greenhouse, fair bit of foliage disease but manageable with weekly maintenance. I would say about average, not the worst nor the best.

Karen, I am making pictoral tomato markers for my garden and put one together describing Zena's Gift from this thread. They are only for my reference. Would you mind if I use one of your pictures?

I cannot believe what I just read,I really can't, especially since Neil L is not here to explain what happened and why re Zena's Gift. He posted that recently here at Tville since Karen was,if you will, after him yet again about his not mentioning her as the source.
Karen, why don't you find Neil's post and cut and paste it to here, and If you don't want to do that,I can do that for you. Carolyn

Heidi, here is where I post all of my garden pictures. Go to the albums section, there are lots of photos from last year of my Zena's gift tomato plants and fruit, unripe and ripe. This is an old thread from 2014. I think you will like this tomato, it is huge and quite early.I sent out seeds to well over 100 people this year from my growout of my origional 15 year old seeds. Anyone who may wish to grow this tomato can request the seed from me for just a sase, KarenO Last edited by KarenO; March 16, 2018 at 12:14 AM. |
