Good to hear and see your progress everyone!
Spatz you need afew more lambies! My tomatoes all look pretty healthy but didn't put too much growth last week as it was a bit on the cold side here. Buds on maybe 6 of them at the moment. BUT!!!!!!!!! I have some other very exciting news I'd like to share with you. Got a phone call on Tuesday from my son who went back to live in Canada to tell me that I'm going to be a grand-maman! I'm so thrilled about this I never thought I'd be so excited with the idea. I'm still quite young and am sooooo much looking forward to this. |

Green Copia
Grub, this is the first time I've seen green copia mentioned. I haven't read all this long thread, but am interested in any tomato associated with green zebra. I'm planting copia for the first time next spring here on the desert, and was wondering about the green one. Is it available on line. Green Zebra is without a doubt the best tomato plant I've run across for my desert garden. We have 100f plus days all through the month of june and it keeps growing and starts producing again after the temps drop in august, one of the rare ones that will. Thanks for any info on it. 8)

Hi Tuk,
And welcome... I like Green Zebra alot but it seems to a be a love-hate one, in so far as some don't like the tart taste and others adore it. I think the taste must be very climate related. It did well here. I really don't know much about Green Copia, other than z friend in Belarus sent it Down Under. I am looking forward to trying it. All greens are welcome here. What else are you growing Tuk? What did best for you in the heat? Best, Grub. |

Just finishing my season, still picking a few from the green zebra, its 10ft high and still growing, heatwave II is still holding up and got about 5 baseball size green ones on it, about 4ft high and wide plant and bonnie best about like hwII has a few on it as well. My days are in the 80's, but nights are dippin into the low 50's and slowing everything down. I plant early in the spring here and get a crop of romas, early girl, rutgers, and a few others that produce fast and heavy then die in the june heat. my high and low of the year are about 20degrees f and 110degrees f. What is your temp.8)

We're around 60-80F here now most days, with dips down to maybe 55F and more common highs hovering around 90F. Suffice to say the plants are g-r-o-w-i-n-g.

Pulled another sicky today, Italian Sweet. Too bad as I was looking forward to trying it but it had sucumed to disease. Most of the plants are strong enough to keep ahead of the blight, but this one wasn't.
Toms Yellow Wonder hasnt been effected much at all , amazing plant. Outside toms are growing really well now and I have fruit set on Sungold, Lime Green Salad and most Grumpys. Looking like some flowers on the BrandywineXCollege Challengers will set soon. Waging war on earwigs bigtime. They are chewing anything they can find. Time for the night patrol , later |

Good to read your report, Manto.
I have a couple among the forest that are sickly, but by and large they are very healthy. The best by far are: your Aunt Ginny's, Gogosha and Mountain Mystery. I have a Prue from saved seeds that is a strong RL, obviously a cross, could be interesting. I have heaps of Italian ones this year... lots of spindly ones. I like 'em and I think I will like the fruits even more. Hot peppers are in, eggies are on, herbs are happening... it's a riot already!!! |

Thanks Spatz, I have fruitset I noticed yesterday, so it's looking good for tomatoes by Christmas-time this season, and even tho I've got thrips there's no sign yet of TSWV!
