What exactly makes a book used?
Do they go by how much it has been read or like half read.
Only been read once.

Reminds me of the guy that brought a pistol into the gun shop and said it had never been cocked.
I took the pistol pulled the hammer back and said now it has.
I never saw someones eyes bug out so far in my life.
Point is I told him all guns are test fired before they leave the factory.

I have two of Carolyns books that have never been opened and one that has only been read 3 times.

That's more than the royalties I got back from Workman Press, but in all honesty I didn't write the book to make money I wrote it b'c I was asked to and b'c I wanted to share with others what I had learned. In addition I received a very generous non-returnable advance.

Fact is that with the price for a gently used one now being in the several hundreds of dollars, I still have two pristine copies here at home and when the cost reaches about a thousand I'll cash out and well, I'll have to make a list of what I want to do with that money, other than putting it in my checking account.

I bought my copy at Amazon for $7.49 including shipping, listed as "good" condition. When it arrived, I was surprised to find it in excellent condition. It didn't even have creases in the spine. It looks brand new and never opened! Thanks Carolyn for this delightful book, it is cherished by me!

I just ordered a copy from Amazon too! It was used...but often times a used book is just fine with me. (As long as there is no torn pages or cigarette smell I don't mind a little creasing or notes!) I get most of my books from thrift stores and garage sales or discounted book stores.

It won't get here until January though...agh! That's such a long wait...

I have one more new book that I might (just might) have a contest here to give away.
I want it to be a fare contest so all can participate.
I will let my cat Smokey autograph it with her paw.

I got mine used quite a while ago. It wasn't cheap, because of international shipping, but it's well worth the expense.

I had no idea when I asked about the book years ago when T'ville was just getting started, that practically ten years later the thread would still be up and active, with over 57,000 reads. I hope this thread helped sell lots and lots of books!

I decided to go back to the first post in this thread to see who started the thread and it was YOU in Feb of 2006.

The book went out of print without my knowing about that and any books available now are used, gently or otherwise and I remember that someone posted that the going price was up in the hundreds of dollars at one time.

As for me,I think I still have one pristine copy here at home and will maybe sell it when the price is right, my decision and no charge for my autograph.

Then this thread must be older than the Stanley Cup playoff thread that resurrects every late Spring.
