I do with peppers. For example, if I have 50 different varieties of hot peppers in a 50 cell tray, they do not all germinate at the same time. So, I leave the heat on until most of them have germinated. Leaving the heat on after germination doesn't seem to hurt. One caveat here is that I make sure that my lights are within 1 inch of the tops of the plants to prevent stretching.

This is my grow rack system, that I have made from 3/4" pvc.
It can accommodate up to 3 units of T-8 - 48" shop lights, hung from it. The trays are on the floor. The lights are adjusted by chain. This is just a sketch. |

I dont have a grow mat and my house is cold a lot these days, so I cover my racks with this clear plastic shower curtains I got from Walmart. Keeps things very warm in there. Less than $3 each.
