Feldon,
I live in southern Cooke county. I'm sure some federal or state agency has some local list of vegetables suitable for growing in my area, but even those lists are sometimes pretty generic. A good list for my area is posted on the web page of a local Farm and Ranch store. http://www.dandlfarmandhome.com/stor...ntingGuide.pdf It's pretty accurate for my area with planting dates. All of the generic lists seem to have some inaccuracies. The list on the link suggests planting garlic in the spring and does not recommend garlic planting in the fall. I just harvested some huge garlic bulbs I planted last August for harvest this month. I've always planted garlic in late summer for harvest when the tops fall over in June of the following year. Cooke county, Ted your practically an Okie.
We completed a 16.000 foot gas well over in Pottsboro back in 1980. We ended up in Durant on Halloween night at a night club and they told my buddy and I we couldnt come in without a costume. So I took my pants and shirt off and they let us in in our underwear. What does this have to do with gardening? Nothing. Worth |
