Whoa! Just had the second Dr. Neal and it was much better than the first. This one really had a big punch of flavor. Very nice. I only picked the first one because it had split from the rain. I let the second one ripen all the way on the vine. Just great!

Oddly enough, my first-to-ripen was a Black Krim, picked last weekend. Now, I gotta tell ya - This is the earliest I've had a ripe tom (it was July 8th) and I was pretty impressed that it was an 85day one! And tennis ball sized too.
The "earlys" like Oregon Spring, Early Girl, and Bloody Butcher are just now beginning to lighten up.

We did have a pretty dry, and somewhat warmer spring this year, but it is a major change from the normal.

Some Mano at top, and 2 Lime Green Salad, 3 Pink Berkeley Tie Dye in middle then 2 Wes, an Italian Sweet, and 3 Levinos. Picked some early, couldn't stand the thought of some critter messing with them. :-)

Can't blame you for pulling the bigger tomato's early, better you get to ripen them inside, than something else eating them outside...

Today:
Kalman's Hungarian Pink (luscious!)
Steak Sandwich hybrid (six ripe ones - very good flavor)
Marianna's Peace (haven't tasted it yet - it's sitting on the counter and I'm just looking at it...a big, ripe tomato in the middle of July!!!)

picking sun gold since last week, picked 2 azoychka last night, 1 wes and 1 grandfather ashlock will be ready in 2 or 3 days..... it's starting!

very excited about the azoychka, 1st full sized tomatoes this year. i want to give them a couple of days inside to finish, they have a touch of green on the shoulders, but i wanted to get them out of the garden before something damages them.

Started picking tomatoes on 7/2/07. First to ripen were Marianna's Peace, Moskovich, Ugly and New Yorker. Close behind were Brandy Boy and Bucks County. Last weekend I picked the first Polish, Big Zac and Goose Creek. I put in 19 plants total, 4 in EB's and 15 in the ground. So far over 53 pounds picked. Last year I didn't get my first Early Girl till 7/21/06. This has been quite a year. Yeh.

I got my plants in the ground way too late this year, so I just got my first ripe mater this weekend. It was an Orange Banana, and I was very impressed. Still waiting for a Stupice, which is usually the first to ripen.

The first ripe ones here will be Mama Leone and Sweet Baby Girl. They both have a few days to go yet, but nothing else is even close. Quite a few others have lost the grassy green color and turned pale though, so they're getting there. I wish they'd hurry up!

last night picked 1st wes, kosovo and grandfather ashlock, 1 of each. they all need another couple of days to fully ripen but at this stage it was more to protect them from being bitten by some rodent.

Hi,

Just harvested my first larger tomato. Strange enough it is a Oxheart... The variety is called Fish Lake Oxheart, tomato weighs 10 oz. I also harvested a few Sophies Choice, very tasty, around 6 oz each.

I've picked six or seven Elfies over the last two days. They average about a pound and have pale orange color. Just tried my first one. I am impressed. Sweet but also a lot of big tomato flavor. Nothing bland about this one. Very little in the way of seeds or gel inside. Also no cracks in any of them. Very pretty fruit. I had some trouble with CRUD with these as seedlings and they were late setting fruit but now these plants are loaded and I'm looking forward to the rest of them. These will make good sandwich tomatoes.
