Currently 90° here, though it was pushing 95° on my sunless patio. The kids are having a ball in one of our pools.

I went out and picked a nice handful of okra this morning, enough for a serving.
It seems to be doing a lot better since I thinned it out and putting on more pods.
even the huge pods are tender too.
This is from me keeping it watered real well.

Every watermelon so far that has pollinated has had a bug of some sort eat it.
There aren't any pollinators to speak of so I am not getting much of anything from these types of plants with male and female flowers.
At least the vines look nice.

I picked 4 okra this morning - my first since 2014. Then sprayed all the tomato plants with a gallon of Nukacide (Triazicide). There is no surprise to how many bugs are out after not having a winter. Mostly leaffooted and stink bugs. What is a surprise is how few grasshoppers I've seen.

Worth, I hope you get to raise some honey bees. As you already know, that will help with pollination.

What will help with honey bees is if the darn crape myrtle down the street would stop blooming.

I have been picking about 10 to15 okra a day (off of 15 plant ) everyday.
This variety called "Baby Louisiana" that is shorter but bears more fruits.
I don't think they need pollinators. Some flowers would just fall off without opening.
My Watermelons have about 8 or nine ( that is from 3 hills ). They each weigh maybe 6 to 8 pounds. Now they are Sugar Baby. They are bigger than similar varieties sold at the store and still getting bigger. The plants have stopped setting. They probably figure that they have enough seeds inventory already. Same story with Honeydew melons. I have a volunteer Honeydew in the compost hill that has more and bigger melons. Next to it there is a grape tomato..Loaded. It is the same as the store bought from rotten tomatoes that I composted.

I have a tomato (DLH) that is absolutely perfect, and has to be at least 2 lbs. It is still green, at the bottom of the plant, and still growing! It is a blunt heart. I am afraid something will get it- it is only about 6 inches off the ground. I thought about removing it and allowing indoor ripening- but nope.

you cam wrap it with fine mesh nylon tulle.
you can find it at WM and anywhere fabrics are sold.
I use it against flea beetle , birds, slugs.

She likes hot peppers as much as I do.
Out of my family it was my mom my sister myself and one brother that liked hot peppers.
My father and two other brothers didn't care for them at all or much but one of their wives did.
Her name was Mary Ann, what a great person, passed away several years ago from cancer.
Raised on a ranch and farm.
It was her 38 revolver I used to go rabbit hunting with, always had a big garden too.
