Some might find this of interest. The Oct. 2015 Plant Biotechnology Journal has many open access papers and commentary on "molecular farming".

Novel sources of multiple resistance to three races of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici in Lycopersicon germplasm

A little out of date since the I3 and I7 resistance genes have now been cloned, but still good overview of the subject.

The arms race between tomato and Fusarium oxysporum

Have always thought CAM photosynthesis to be an attractive target for engineering into crops. Apparently these authors agree

Bacterial speck tolerance is a target in the Florida breeding program. Very little resistance has been found in other species and virtually none is present in S. Lycopersicum. Meaning this is a very good opportunity to introgress some useful traits into domestic tomato. As usual with S. Habrochaites, there will be a ton of linkage drag to resolve.

Well, there are elegant solutions for that.
