yeah..jokes on me. In Corpus Christi March even late February was always very safe.. freezes occurred Late nov-Jan. Even with all the reading and taking in of the local zone info it is hard to sink in but the extra labor this week is going t result in later planting next year.

I cant stop Laughing I'm sorry I really am.
I have planted in the 3rd week of Feb here before and folks looked at me like I was nuts. I told them that there would be no more frost or freezes and there wasn't. This should be the last time you have to worry about it,but who knows for sure. But I bet I'm right, I have ways of knowing these things. I'm planting out this weekend because some of my plants need watered 2 times a day. They are very large. Some I will put in larger pots for insurance and for the next time I come home. Worth |

We're just watching the 11 o'clock news and they are showing snow coming down in Fort Worth (Texas, or Canada?)

I hear ya, I have stood on a rig on Easter Sunday in Texas with the snow coming down so hard I couldn't see the floor 60 feet below. It was 20 degrees with the wind blowing 40 miles an hour and the day before it was 75 and calm. I just love this place. Worth |

I put plants in the ground starting 1/12. I have flower buds on most but no open blossoms yet. Since I only have room to grow 20 tomatoes right now I grew 2 of everything and if the cold gets them I have spares. The temps have gotten down to about 33 degrees and I have protected them with a combination of trash cans,Wall O Waters, 5 gallon buckets,
coolers, and floating row cover material. So far so good. I hope to have tomatoes in early june. |

2 plants have opened blossoms so far, Monomakh's Hat and Stump of the World. The MH may have set, have to wait a few days to be able to tell.

The blossoms on Kimberly and Brandywine OTV are ready to open and those on Brandy Boy opened today. All were planted Feb 16 in containers. It got down to 34 Friday AM but these weren't even nipped. Stump was and is looking a little rough. I really want some big old fashioned tomatoes this year. Planted out another 18 today. Up to 42 varieties.
