In both case the soil needs to be amended with lots of organic matter to balance out drainage and moisture retention.
Judging from my plants, I am doing pretty well. Maybe even better than GA.
Awesome! Sounds like you have a great season in the works... :-)

Above is a picture my neighbor texted me of a Brandy Boy I gave her. She stuffed it with chicken and said it was so good she ate the whole thing. Must have been delicious because she is petite and slim and trim and thats a 1 pound tomato...

sure if you want to see it. I have a high tunnel filled with strawberries, the new one 1/2 filled with tomatoes and 3 greenhouses... mostly filled with annuals for sale. not right this instant though. I am in the middle of getting the garden cleaned up and fitted (which is huge considering how many things got left undone last year and putting up the new high tunnel this year. maybe tonight.

Hi Gardeneer! Our Brandy Boys are about 36-40" in height and aggressively sending out suckers, trusses/blossoms and setting fruit. Now we just some sun for them to really take off. How do your BB compare with ours?

Congrats, Hudson ! You've got fruits.
Mine look just like the ones in your first picture, very vigorous, with lots of trusses of flowers/buds, sending out side branches...
I will take couple of pictures tomorrow and post them here.
I might even find few tiny fruits there, as I have noticed some flowers have dried up and the petals have fallen.
An unbelievable story of Brandy Boy:
I planted out 12 tomatoes on/about March 8 in may garden. Then we had 2 nights of back to back freeze down to 22F,( on March 16 and 17th). with high/cold winds blowing from the north. .
I made a low tent and covered my plants, put a spotlight inside the tent ..
Ended of losing 7 (totally) 4 were toasted , lot the top but grew back. BUT Brandy Boy escaped w/out a dent, nothing. And That BB plant is one of my best plants in the garden.
Was it just a coincident ? Or it is cold tolerant ?
BELIEVE IT OR NOT !!

Beautiful photos/plants! My Brandy Boys are only 2" tall now, but they're growing more vigorously than most of my 25 or so varieties. I imagine they will be tall, huh?

Sorry about your unexpected freeze to 22° F - Gardeneer! And after all the time and labor invested for success! I don't think the BB plants are bred for cold tolerance - IMO. The plant must have been sitting in the optimal spot in your tent for maximum protection! There must have been a "destiny" element in the event

HudsonValley - Thanks! A pot may restrict the size of Brandy Boy depending on the size and fertilizer but expect a tall plant if cared for properly in your garden or raised bed! I let ours go one year in the GH and they grew 14' high before the frost stopped them. I restrict them to 10' now for optimal growth and production in our GH season.

Hahahaha... i didnt know there were 2 Hudsons either. Now we know... :-)

Btw, my Brandy Boys and Brandywine Sudduths started out producing about 20 tomatoes each, early on so they were neck and neck, but now the Brandy Boys are creating 2 to 3 new tomatoes for each one of the new Brandywine tomatoes. I love them both for different reason and am pleased with the BS production but even more happy that Brandy Boy is doing even better and tastes so good and is so uniform and large. I dont usually grow round red perfect large tomatoes so my neighbors that like those are in heaven.

Gardeneer -interesting and good to know the BBs survived unscathed.

Hudson_Wy - do you prune the BBs?

And we're both growing Brandy Boys, just to confuse you...

Hudson WY - Mine are going in raised beds, so I'm hoping for big 'uns!
