Oh, no, I meant YOUR cot. Well, I suppose sleeping on bare ground could cause rough, split skin.
Side note, used your pollination directions on my cukes today, hopefully they won't yellow and fall off like the naturally pollinated ones have done so far this season. |

I have had good luck with hand pollinating.
I just live in the patch not sleep in it. |

The cuke blossom is wilting and the baby cuke is still green and firm looking, good signs that it took and will actually give me a cuke. I hope that I don't have to hand pollinate the whole season to get cukes, if I do we won't be having pickles this winter.
What variety do you grow? Do you ever have problems with people gawking at your garden? I had a group of people leaning on my fence after supper, reaching over to touch my corn and picking an okra leaf. I figure if Okra and Corn draws attention, your pumpkin monsters would gather a crowd! |

Ah, yes, twice last year we found that someone had stolen our pumpkins and smashed them in the road in front of our house as soon as they turned orange. We took to leaving the dog outside when we left, cleared that issue right up. If my 8 pound cheese pumpkins are tempting, I would imagine yours would be irresistible.

Just the sound of a shotgun slide is quite effective as a deterrent.

Is it still on the 1k lb fast track, or are you thinking bigger now? How big do you think the "little" one will get?

Go baby pumpkins, grow! You need to give them names so we can pick one to root for.

The big one is the 1081 Leonzi and the little one is the 1112 Holland.
I forgot to turn the water back on last night so the growth was down a bit. Today it is 117 lbs, and a daily growth of 15.8 lbs. |
