This reminds me of a Beverly Hillbillies episode and Jethro's hippie friends.
Jethro tells them about smoking crawdads.
They asked him if he went on a trip.
He said sure did went clean to England.
This is after they had some episodes of the Clampett's going to England.
The hippies are looking for crawdads the cops find granny at the park looking for crawdads and asks her what she is going to do with them.
She says she is going to smoke them.
Really?
Then she replies but first I need a little pot.
Been 30 years or so but that is how I remember it.

I mean tbh, if a tomato breeder used MJ names (Purple Kush etc) for his tomatoes it would be hilarious, and you know it would get them a ton of publicity.

Iirc, licensed medical mj users in Canada were allowed to grow their own initially, but that was revoked under the previous government, and forced medical users to strictly buy the product from one of a handful of licensed producers.
Turns out the "organic" product was tainted with harmful pesticides and made people sick!
The notion that the government should decide who is permitted exclusively to profit from a certain business, really runs contrary to free market economics IMO shouldn't be allowed. The control on product quality - that if no good, competitors will take your market share - is missing.

Marijuana does have it pests.
One of the worst that can devastate a whole crop is the dreaded two legged wingless jumping hippie.
Most insecticides won't stop them but can be baited and trapped with a bag of cheetos and a net.
