That is a beautiful color combination. It will be some time before zinnias arrive in my area, and I'd love to sneak a pack home with me. I just started a few cells of last night, with more to follow this weekend. Last year, after everything else had given up, the few remaining zinnias that I hadn't pulled were covered with butterflies that remained during the crazy long spell of fall warm weather.
RJ, Last year I made a large seed purchase of those same Zinnia varieties for my garden club. You should check out Harris Seed prices. They have periodic free shipping offers. - Lisa |

RE: Zany Rose Picotee zinnia - where to buy seeds? It is so beautiful.
I'm growing zinnias first time this spring. I love them. I bought this from harris / garden trends. https://www.gardentrends.com/collect...den-collection The substitution they made is a lot nicer than the yellow ones shown. Very happy with the purchase and I didn't even try all of the packets. and bought the El Dorado from rareseeds. (You get a lot of seeds). https://www.rareseeds.com/el-dorado-zinnia/ ---- |

I am thoroughly enjoying zinnias this summer! I have only tried sweet peas, and a few sunflowers before.

Zinnias are my favorite! I picked this bouquet a few days ago. The varieties are Coral Beauty, Queen Lime Red, Queen Lime Orange, Orange King, and Scarlet Flame. I like to try lots of varieties and hope to grow profusion sometime soon. I can never find enough space for everything I want to grow.

Is it like tomatoes or is it pretty close?
I did grow out some F2s from tomatoes (Orange Slice, Garden Treasure) that were really good but mostly I don't bother. Even with the expensive tomato seeds, it is just such a fraction of the cost to grow in Florida. ---- My plan is to grow fall colors (Orange, etc) for October through Thanksgiving. and then have mainly red ones with some white for Christmas time. ---- Great to see you posting Richard. Thanks for the tips; Wow, my by chance seed assortment from GardenTrends had all 4 of those you mentioned. So far, no big mildew problems especially with the flowers in full sun. I saw a little in the back, but I also planted really thick too. |

I checked out the "Zinnia Garden Collection" at Harris and as you note, their selection team is aligned with my suggestions. Since they are also including `Zowie' as the 5th in their collection I'll take a look at that one. Good price right now.
