Mortgage Lifter Bi-Color

I just had my first Mortgage Lifter Bi-Color with breakfast. The taste and texture were both excellent. This is a sweet tomato, not nearly as tangy as Brandywine or regular ML. While I do prefer the tangier varieties, this one was quite nice. I may grow it again for the folks on the receiving end of my surplus who like sweet tomatoes. The plant is healthy and productive. The fruit as you can see below, are mostly yellow with red streaks coming up from the bottom. It looks like the weight is going to average just over a pound for these.

Where did this bicolor ML come from? I haven't seen them listed anywhere.

Theirs doesn't quite look the same, though. Mine has a lot more yellow and theirs has more pink. Nevertheless, that is where my seeds came from.

It's been listed in the SSE Yearbooks as the Pesta strain for many many years. I think his name was George Pesta and it must have arisen from a cross with Mortgage Lifter being the female ( fruit) parent.

Just one of the now perhaps close to about 100 gold/red bicolors known and listed in the SSE Yearbooks.

I hadn't realized that TGS was offering it.

Yes, you really need to do that. The Yearbook is an inch thick and there are 3,684 tomato varieties listed in the 2007 one among lots of other goodies -- 376 kinds of garlic, 826 peppers...YUM!
