Default The harvesting continues 7 21 07

They're still rolling in folks! Hope you're doing as well.

Today it was from my Lemon Boy plant and my Kellog's Breakfast plant.
I've got one of each.

Still have quite a few not quite ripe on all my plants too.

Tomorrow will be a couple more varieties, but not sure if
I'll make individual sauces or not. We'll see how much
fruit I get from each.

Trying something different (at least for me) with this batch.

Made Lemon Boy tomato sauce and Kellog's Breakfast tomato sauce.

Anyone else ever tried this approach?

The other day I opened a quart of Aunt Gertie's Gold juice. Mighty fine stuff! Yes, I make sauce and can the yellows, golds and etc. The black ones make a sauce so rich and tasty you can see it smiling inside the jar.

Picked these in the last week or so. The box is a full sheet cake box. Upper left container has New Yorkers. Lower left container is what one of our Ugly Plants produced??? We are going to make 2 batches of sauce from these varieties. The rest are Big Zacs, Bucks County, Polish, MP, Moskovich and Brandy Boys.

Wow, your harvest from single plants in a single day is really incredible. Any chance you can show us pictures of those wonder plants?

How did the tomato sauces turn out? Did you do this to get different colored tomato sauce or did you do it for the taste? It sounds like an interesting thing to experiment with. Do you have pictures of the sauce too?

Default Saucy shots

OK Hilde - took some shots of the sauces (or as Earl would say, juice).

They are in ziplock bags. The one with the red sauce is frozen
and is actually a little redder than it shows.

I did the separate bit mostly for taste. Had so many that I figured,
why not? And you can definitely taste a difference.

Left is Kellog's Breakfast and right is Lemon Boy. the one on the top is the red.

I'm going to start another thread later today with shots of the whole garden.

Great! Wow, imagine a pizza with the Lemon Boy sauce! This must be so much fun! I can't wait to try this too! I haven't thought about putting sauce in zip lock bags, but that's a great way to thaw the sauce.

Thank you so much for sharing pictures and I am eagerly waiting for your new thread!
